It is true many students are getting interested in creating their own business and the growing number of colleges are encouraging them to do. While some people are concerned that it would intefere with a student's study, I think that its benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
Admittably, running a business during attending a college has some disadvantages. It could make students hard to focus on their studies. Most students already have a hectic schedule. They usually take around 7 lectures a week and need to do a lot of assignment such as writing an essay and conducting an experiment. Running a business is a highly time-consuming activity. Thus, it could be a burden on them and students could not focus on their study.
In spite of negative points mentioned above, I still believe that creating a business during college days provides more advantages. First of all, it allows students to apply their knowledge learned at colleges to real life. It would help students to understand what they learned at college more deeply. Furthermore, it could even motivate students to study harder. If a business is related to students' major, they would study their major more so that they can generate more income. In my view, running a business is beneficial for students in terms of a more active and broad learning experience.
In conclusion, I think students will gain more than they lose from starting a business since they are in colleges.
