It
is a common belief that it is preferable for students to do a part-time job
while they are in school. However, there is a more persuasive argument that
doing a part-time job has negative impacts that can influence their studying
time.
On
the one hand, having a part-time job can give students a fresh experience. Teenagers
are able to make diverse relationships when doing a work on a new environment.
There are a wide range of new characters such as friends, employers. Therefore,
it leads students to a broader world that gives them new insights and practical
wisdom. For
example, students can work as an intern for a part-time job in a company. They
learn different kinds of work and develop their various skills which are
difficult to be learned at school. Furthermore, working as an intern for a
part-time job can be a good opportunity later when they apply for a full-time position
in the same company after graduation. This example demonstrates that getting a
part-time job can be a good thing for students’ future.
Nevertheless,
I believe that getting a part-time job can affect their time to study
negatively. Doing a part-time job work also can be a time-consuming task
although the total amount of working time is less than a full-time position.
Students are likely to have less time to study, which can lead to lower scores
in school’s exams. According
to a recent survey, the majority of students who are doing part-time jobs
responded that they are having difficulty in studying at school due to the lack
of time. Therefore, we can see that getting a part-time job has negative impact
in terms of school’s life of teenagers.
To
sum up, while there are some advantages to having part-time jobs while
attending school, it is evident that the disadvantages of doing part-time jobs
outweigh them.
