Nowadays, humankind has been living in the
deluge of information, because of the development of data storage techniques.
According to this tendency, libraries which have been enormous warehouses of
knowledge from ancient times have been evolved in many aspects. When it comes
to libraries, some people assert that information technology can replace the functions
of public libraries. In contrast, I strongly believe that there are several reasons
why public libraries should be maintained and even subsequently.
To
begin with, replacing public libraries with computer technologies could be a disaster (혹은 be disastrous도 됩니다.) for someone who cannot utilize those technologies properly. These people
cannot even access to websites and applications which provide online library
services. For example, the majority of senior people have many inconveniences
and low intelligibility about using online libraries because they have lived in
the era that digitalized gadgets were much less spread and thus, could not be
appropriately for find it hard to take (혹은 모리스님 취향에 따른 기타 표현) taking advantages of library applications of smartphones and even
computer programs of public libraries. Therefore, these radical movements to
online libraries can threaten senior citizens and other weak people who want to
enjoy different cultures.
Furthermore,
a number of contemporary public libraries have importantly functioned as social
welfare facilities, and resting places except for tasks related to documents
and books. Many people with diverse purposes visit libraries and are satisfied
with different services which they provide. For instance, many children obtain
assorted knowledge and skills, such as basic computer coding and writing skills,
and illiterate senior people can also have lessons for reading and writing
characters in public libraries. In addition, those who are reading books and
studying in libraries can take a break, tasting snacks and beverages in
cafeterias of them. Thus, modern public libraries provide a lot of people with several
tasks which computer techniques cannot implement.
In
conclusion, public libraries not only let people hire books but also give them
tons of (구어에 해당하므로 라이팅에서는 쓸 일이 없다고 보셔도 됩니다.) conveniences as I wrote above. Therefore, computer technologies could
not be a substitute for the existence of public libraries, entirely. |
