The given bar chart illustrates the percentage of the urban population in towns and cities from 1950 to 2000 with predictions for 2030 and including the prediction of the future.
Overall, it can be seen that the proportion of the chart fluctuates in a gradual upward trend. The percentages of the population in towns and cities are the highest almost higher in Latin America/Caribbean during the entire period.
As clearly seen from the chart, the highest number was 70% in Latin America/ Caribbean in 2000, followed by 47% in the whole world. The figure for Africa had similar percentages with that of Asia proportion at approximately 37%. In 1950, the proportion of population was the lowest in Africa, which was at 12%. On the other hand, there was a large number in Latin America/Caribbean at 40% in 1950.
In terms of the future, the rate number of people living in areas is predicted that the highest figure in 2030 will be at 80% in Latin America/Caribbean which is to reach a peak of the highest number over the entire period. Moreover, the next large percentage is expected to the whole world at 60%, followed by Asia at about 57% and Africa at 51%.
