It is true that numerous environmental
problems such as global warming and air pollution have been worsening. Some people
argue that these matters cannot be resolved by individual’s endeavor because there
are some limitations. However, I am not in favor of this opinion for a significant
reason.
On the one hand, people think that
individuals have so trivial power that they cannot change the overall environmental
problems. This is because no matter how meaningful they do for the environment,
they turn useless if there are something bigger factors. For example, even
though people use less shampoo or condition and recycle for the environment, if
a factory emits harmful by-products and dust which give detrimental impacts on
the environmet, their efforts become offset. In addition, the problems would not
be solved anymore. This shows that personal behaviors have no power to solve
the environmental problems compared to the things which block their efforts.
However, combined individual’s efforts can
make huge results for the environment. If small but priceless conducts gathered
together and contributed to any parts of the problems, it would work. For
example, as for the non-profit organization such as Greenpeace, a person who
wants to preserve the mother nature makes big results. They protect endanger
animals to be extinct, collect trashes on the Oceans as well as they complain companies’
illegal construction, resulting better environmental condition. To make even
trivial betterment in terms of environment, even a person’s petty endeavor is valuable.
In conclusion, even if the individuals’
efforts feel too trivial and useless to solve the environmental problems, the
matters will be eventually mitigated when their powers gather together. |
