There is no doubt that many companies in this competitive
world are trying to find competent staff to work for them, and the most
effective way to hire the employees would be an interview. In my view, I believe
hiring workers through interviews are beneficial but companies also need an additional
method to find them.
Those who think a job interview is the best method to find
employees would believe communication is the biggest advantage of the job
interview. This is beneficial because asking many questions is extremely useful
to know a person in a short time. For example, by asking various questions about
an interviewee, he or she cannot easily tell a lie and the company can evaluate
the person’s communication skill which might be considered as an enevitable
skill for employees. If companies do not use interviews to hire staff, there
will not be any substitute.
Although I admit a job interview is the best way to evaluate
qualified people, there should be more methods to test people. The reason for
that is job interviews have some limitations due to the limited time and cannot
cover all the things about interviewees. For example, some people who are smart
enough but do not have good personality which cannot get along with others might
pass job interviews. Therefore, companies will need some additional tools to
find those people by using some writen tests to evaluate personality. Through those
additional methods, companies can hire people who have appropriate qualifications.
In conclusion, even though job interviews are the best way
to hire employees for the usefulness of the communication method, I believe
that job interviews itself are not enough due to the limitations mentioned above,
so additional tools like a variety of writen tests should be used.
