These days, it is often argued that advertisements have beneficial aspects on humans and businesses, whereas others suggest it has detrimental impacts on them. In this essay, I will analyse both merits and demerits of advertisements and express my on opinion. On the one hand, advertising contains several advantages to citizens and companies. First of all, in terms of time efficiency, when people are buying products, it can minimise a greater amount of time by reducing researching time. For instance, when customers purchase earbuds, if they have already known the functions by exposed a commercial promotion, it can require less time for them avoid looking up internets for the functions. In addition, the income from advertising in media can support the programmes. It means, Youtubers are earning money from promoting products or companies and funds from this could be a motivation for them to produce better quality of videos and keep up with making contents. In contrast, there are few disadvantages that consumers and companies could have. Firstly, it could increase the number of consumerism while people have exposed by commercial promotions. To illustrate, even though, individuals do not need that promoted items in advertisement, they tend to buy because of its attractiveness. Moreover, people are more likely to be disappointed at the promoted products and companies due to the exaggeration. It is because, when companies compose advertisements for making greater profits, it could be exaggerated and when it does not fulfil the buyer’s expectation. Therefore, they could disappoint not only at the products but also the companies. In conclusion, commercial promotions could damage on companies’ fame when it is dramatised, however, it could provide convenient to consumers.
