Reducing global environmental damage should be handled by governments rather than individuals. However, some people do not believe that the government can solve environmental problems, What are the reason and the solution?
With an ever concern about reducing global environmental damage, some individuals have opined that this problems cannot be solved by the government. This essay will present the reason why a proportion of the population think that the government could not solve this issue and the solution to resolve this phenomenon.
To begin with, concerns about economy and industries coherently illustrates the matter pertaining to this theme. In the capitalism in which the development of economy is the most important virtue, people have relished the economic affluence so far. No matter how much damages caused by industries and companies, this interest on economy have made the government implement many policies to encourage economy, not reduce global environmental damages. These government policies have ascertained individuals focus on improving their economic situation, not protecting the environment. Such a priority of government and individuals has resulted in ignoring of the fundamental role of the government to protect the environment by cooperating other nations or global organizations. Thus, economic perspectives to the environmental issue make people believe that the government could not cope with these agendas by itself.
In spite of the reason mentioned above, I believe that social movements for protecting environments can solve this problems. In a modern society, the public have enough knowledge and information to request the government implement some policies for preserving the nature. With these knowledge, the public can ask the government impose more taxes on industries and companies who have responsibility on the environmental damages. In addition, the general public can suggest the government spend more budget to deal with environmental issues by using the increased taxes, which will the optimum strategy to bring the global cooperation for alleviating environmental damages. Therefore, social movements by individuals is the answer to make the government initiate policies to cope with this issue.
In conclusion, it seems that government would not solve this issue at first glance. Nevertheless, I believe that social movements by the public will help the government make an effort to resolve this problem.
