The illustration below depicts the process of the generation of electricity in a hydroelectric power station.
Overall, the procedure of generating electricity is largely separated into two process, a day and a night.
Initially, during the day, the water accumulated in a high-altitude reservoir from river flows to power station that is located at lower altitude via the intake of dam. The next step is that the water turns turbines in order to operated generator where electricity is made and sent to national grid through power cables. After it occurs, the spent water is stored in a low-level reservoir. By contrast, during the night, the turbines are operated, pumping the water in a low-level reservoir back into a high-altitude reservoir in the opposite direction. This process keep working and generating energy.
