through the most dramatic change in terms of the aged population growth. It was
about 5% in 1940, and it rose to over than 25% in 2040. In particular, the rate
skyrocketed from 10% to over 25% just within a decade from 2030 to 2040.
The USA and Sweden show a steady growth
of their aged population rate for the given period. It was below 10% for both
countries in 1940 with a slightly higher figure in the USA. In 2000, Sweden
overtook that of the USA at the rate of 15%. In 2040, Japan has the top rate of
the population aged 65 and higher, followed by Sweden and the USA, over 25%,
25%, and lower than 25%, respectively.
