In globalized society,
it is often seen news that many languages extinct each year. Although some
students assert that this will make our lives easier, I strongly believe that
this is a crucial problem because of a cultural diversity and people will have
difficulties with fewer languages.
The extinction of
language is essential problem in terms of the diversity of human culture. A
language which have developed during several thousands years in one region is
not just collection of words, but a culture from one country, which means that
if one language disappears, one country will lose their culture. For example,
with the extinction of one language, music and poems which cannot fully
translate to other languages, will disappear, leading to the lack of cultural
diversity in the world. In this regard, losing several languages is a big
challenge to human beings.
On top of that,
although some believe that speaking fewer languages, such as English or
Chinese, will make their lives easier, many, including myself, disagree and
feel that people will find it difficult. When we decide to use such languages
exclusively, a higher number of people, who cannot speak them as a first
language, will experience uncomfortable. Take Korean and Vietnamese society as
the prime example; both countries have tried to accept English as their second
language for several decades, but these plans failed because people from these
countries felt uncomfortable speaking it.
In conclusion, I
believe that it is a important problem to extinct of languages due to the
cultural diversity and with limited languages, I think it will be much
difficult to live. It is therefore suggested that people should be concern
about language extinction.
