There are many pros and cons of animal testing. Many of the factors are related to ethical choices such as keeping animals in captivity and using them to test experimental drugs.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of animal experimentation.
These days, there are innumerable arguments
concerning animal testing. A number of mankind believes that animal
experimentation has led to medical advances that help to increase human being’s
quality of life. However, there are some people who assert that animals are as
important as human beings, so they claim that it is not ethical to use animals
as a tool of experimentation. This issue is contentious because it combines
positive factors such as improving human being’s quality of life with negative
elements like the ignorance of ignoring ethical problems concerning animal cruelty.
First
of all, many people approve of animal testing because human being’s quality of
life has been substantially improved through various animal experimentations. It
is widely believed that by doing conducting innumerable animal tests testing, people can easily
find and harness appropriate medicines when they are suffering from diseases
such as diabetes and cardiovascular problems. For example, according to surveys
conducted by Harvard University in 2017, human being’s life expectancy has been
increased almost decade compared to the past after introducing animal testing. (위에서 했던 말을 그대로 반복하는, 아무 의미없는 분량 채우기입니다.) As
this shows, animal testing positively affected to people’s quality of life in
terms of increasing life expectancy. Therefore, it is undeniable that human
beings can use state of the art medicines and fabulous medical cares by using
animals as experimental tools.
However, there is a negative view about using animals as experimental tools to improve human being’s quality of life. Many experts assert that it is not ethical because innumerable firms that produce pristine medicines to the public use animals to invent new medicines and check whether it gives detrimental effects to the human beings. In 1999, one of the global behemoths located in Japan that mainly invents and sells new medicine used approximately the five hundred numbers of dogs as just experimental tools, but that time, they even couldn’t (줄임말은 풀어써주셔야 합니다.) invent any medicines. As the example clearly shows, it just harms animals, but there are no useful and meaningful medical results. For this reason, it is apparent that using animals to improve better high-end medicines could be seemed as an unethical experimentation.
To
sum up, it is clear that there are many advantages of animal testing as it increases
human being’s quality of life, but on the other hand, there are also
significant drawbacks because animal testing involves many unethical sacrifices
to develop just a single one drug.
