In the high-technology society, the forms
of human relationships have been changed; more and more people have
communicated each other online rather than face-to-face method due to the
advancement of technology. This essay will discuss about these changes and
outline a drawback on offline human interactions, followed by a reasoned
conclusion. The development of communication, such as
the Internet and mobile phones, has allowed users to make social networks
without person-to-person meetings. Several decades ago, it was impossible for
people to create new networks without actual meetings while they can easily connect
with new people by using social network services on their tiny phones today. The
increased number of online date services is the prime example; couples, who
never meet each other, keep in touch through online chatting and some of them
eventually get married. Without technology, they may not have a chance to know
each other. Although this seems that technology has
brought benefits, in terms of human interactions, the negative impact has been
brought. With the dominant use of online services, the increasing number of people
finds it difficult to spend their time on meeting others offline. In the face-to-face
meeting, people, particularly younger generation, do not know what to do from
how to do eye-contact to how to deal with awkwardness for the first meeting.
For example, it is common to see a group of friends sitting in a café holding
their own phones without conversations.
In conclusion, modern communicational
technology has allowed people to be interacted without a person-to-person
meeting. However, it has resulted in having difficulties for people to keep
offline networks.
