▶ Your Answer :
It is often argued how to spend government money
on public facilities. While some citizens assert that spending on public
libraries is unnecessary, experts in education disagree and feel that
governments should allocate money to them. I believe that governments should
make public libraries be free due to their educational impacts.
Some taxpayers may argue that running public
libraries without fees is wasting their money which can be allocated to other
crucial public facilities. With the limited amount of budget, city councils may
decide to spend public money on public libraries, sacrificing the development
of public health, security and education. However, well-developed public
libraries will allow experts from doctors to polices to develop the wide range
of areas including other public sectors. It is therefore necessary for the public
to invest on public libraries.
Many, including myself, feel that public
libraries which help citizens to learn diverse knowledge and information are
play a crucial role in education and therefore they should be free. Due to the freedom of education, anyone,
even people with should have no income, can have an easy access to public libraries. If
public libraries charged entrance fees, only a the small number of people would
visit them. Studies from Cornell University have revealed that people will go
to private libraries less than public libraries because they charge fees while
public libraries do not. This means that public libraries should
have no fees in order to boost the access of the public and their educational
impacts.
In conclusion, some citizens consider
public libraries as an essential public facility which should be free, whilst
others argue that it is a waste of their tax. Although there are disagreements,
it is agreed that everyone should use public libraries without paying fees because
of the freedom of education.
