The table below gives information about the underground railway systems in six cities.
The table provides information related to the railway system in terms of the year when the railway systems were opened, the length of routes and the number of annual passengers in particular six different cities.
In general, It can clearly be seen that cities in Europe generally have longer kilometers of route more than other cities and the railway systems that were constructed in the most recent time have less annual passengers in comparison to other locations.
Initially, regarding the date that underground systems opened, the oldest service is in London (in 1864). This was followed by Paris which has the second oldest railway system that was built in 1900. Conversely, Los Angeles’s railway system is the latest one among the six systems (opened in 2001).
As for killometers of route, the longest rail route is located in London (394 km). However, rail route of Kyoto is the shortest, which is only 11 killometers. Regarding the number of people using railways systems in the all nations, the largest figure of passengers are in Tokyo (1927 million per year). On the other hand, only 45 million people travelling by underground system was in Kyoto.
