This bar chart shows the portion of men and
women who could read and write throughout the world in 2010. Overall, it is
clear that all the countries which indicated in the question include world
average, shows the percentage of male is higher than women. America and Europe
have small gaps between men and women otherwise Arab, Africa, and Asia have big
difference. Looking at the chart more closely, one can see that world average
readable and writable male and female are 87 percent and 77 percent each. Most
of people in US and Europe can read and write, over 90 percentages. Especially, Western Europe, only 1 percent
people of nation have trouble reading and writing, and also the gap of men and
women is pretty low about 1 to 2 percent. Meanwhile some Asia and Africa, and
Arab nations experience low reading and writing level, they are all under 80%.
Remarkably Arab nations indicate quite big difference between men and women in aspect
of reading, female much lower percentage than male, almost one-third of men,
each shows 75% and 46%
