The table chart illustrates average distances in miles by British using the different forms of transport in the years 1985 and 2000. It is noticeable that the total number of miles that people who used given various transport rose up significantly between 1985 and 2000. The car was by far the most used by English people in both years. In the year 1985, the average miles by car was 3,199, which increased to 4,806 miles in 2000. The figures for long distance bus, train, taxi, and other modes grew up from 1985 to 2000. The miles by taxi using people in English saw the dramatic change over the 15-year-period, with rising 13 to 42 miles. There was a fall in average miles for the three different ways of transport. English people walked the average miles of 255 in 1985, but this figure fell to 237 in 2000. Bicycle usage also decreased by 10 miles from 1985 to 2000. The biggest downward change was local bus, with falling from 429 to 274 miles over the period shown.
