▶ Your Answer :
The contents in TV and in newspapers have
to be authorised by news editors. The news editors' decision on the contents for the news is dependent upon
the public's interest, which is stimulative. Stimulative stories are usually
involve with bad news, and the repetitively receiving the materials make people
to get used to bad news.
Since people feel an interest in a
stimulating story, the news editors' decisions will follow the public's
interest. For example, the public is interested in Johnny Depp's private
divorce issues, rather than knowing the fact that the fire fighter had rescued
a cat from the tree. People are do not interested in the fire fighter's story because it
seems like a normal daily types of news. They are feeling interested in the
events that are more stimulative and infrequent like Johnny Depp's family
violence. The more stimulative news included in the contents of TV and
newspapers, that leads to the sales for the news. Therefore, the decisions for
the news editors are based on the public's interest. <(factors를 물어보고 있기 때문에 2개 정도는 서술을 해주시는게 좋습니다)
(Need better transition)
People are getting used to bad news. Since
people are easily bored once they mastered the pattern of the story by hearing
frequently, they are seeking for stimulative news every year. Usually, the bad
news are stimulative. For example, in the case of the financial crisis in 2008,
people did were not found an interest in it because people have heard of the
similar story of economy depression or downturn every 10 years. To meet this
requirement, the news editors are producing news selectively by only publishing
the news that are stimulative. Therefore, we have been immune to the simple
news by watching or reading the similar stories everyday for a long time.

It is better to report more good news as a
society will be beneficial to give hope <(little unclear). If there will be more bad news
reported to society, people will be emotionally influenced by it. For example,
at the time of SARS, the fear of the public had rose raised and that resulted in the
depression in workers by counting the dead people by the media. In the case of
the USA, the president had contacted the media to request do not to publish
disease related news as he will directly deal with the issue. After the
president's contact, and after the media stopped reporting, the number of death
reduced. Like this, the media's influence on people is significant and
inevitable. If the media is reporting only hopeful and lively news, despite the
feeling of bored, the society will be cheerful. Therefore, it is better to
report good news than bad news.
In conclusion, because the public's
interest is leading the news editor's decision, the actual power is with the
public.<Need better coherence> The public is feeling interested in more stimulative and bad stories
because they are have immune to simple stories. However, despite the public's interest feeling, the news should report more good news than bad news because of media's influential
powers.
