Q ; In the past, people stored knowledge in books. Nowadays people store knowledge on the internet. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
There has been a controversial issue over whether or not publishing and reading a book to store information is not efficient to our society with growing media environments anymore. Although some people claim that it would maintain our culture of publishing books with advantages of feeling a texture of paper, I would firmly argue that storing knowledge on our email and files on the Internet is more beneficial to our real life due to the infinity of information and aspects of the economy.
To begin with, people use the Internet with their smartphones or laptops at workplaces and also read and search what they want to find or are curious while working. From this circumstance, there are no barriers of time to find information. Furthermore, to store data, using the Internet is more efficient than books in terms of unnecessary places to leave books in bookshelf. It means that the Internet is able to store and stock infinite amounts of our knowledge and information.
Through this way, people take environmental and economical benefits by protecting our nature. To make papers and books, it needs to cut down a ton of trees. As this phenomenon, not only a lot of birds lose their habitats but also our environment will get worse. In addition, factories that publish books do not need to us anymore if people use the Internet to find data. Hence, I would be confident that reading a book is not good to store too much information.
In short, both opponents and proponents have debated this disputable issue. However, in my perspective, our society is able to get a huge amount of information on the Internet and even its better than when reading a book by taking strengths about efficiency and our economy.
