It is prevently pointed out that printed books are unnessary in digital era. Propenents of this argument suggest that electronic books is more portable because, when individuals travel, they can store as many books as possible in comparison with printed books. In addition, with industrialization, the reckless usage of natural resources which is needed by making books is concerned. In fact, a number of studies have reported that the reason of deforestation can be papers. This undoubtedly allows people to think the importance of environment and this in turn decreases the usage of printed books.
Some naysayers, however, hold the view that printed books will continue to play an essential part in our lives. Although printed books are not easy to carry for students, a high degree of concentration is anticipated. For example, students can underline, write something on the book and even fold the paper, which can enhance accuracy of memorisation. This allows students to improve ability to concentrate. Moreover, demands of printed books are constant from people who are not good at electronic books. This is because those people do not want to study how to use.
To recapitulate, electronic books are protable and deforestation is expected when books are made. In this sense, excessive book manufacture should decrease. But, through printed books, ability of concentration is improved and demands are also constant. For this sense, printed books will still remain. Therefore, printed books will continue to play an important part, but the number of books should decrease. |
