injuries per 100 million passenger miles travelled depending on transportation
type in 2002.
Overall, incidents and injuries by demand response was
the most among five transportation types. On the other hand, the number of
incidents and injuries by commuter rail was the least in 2002. The number of
incidents by light rail and bus was same.
Incidents by demand response occurred 225 per 100
million PMT in 2002 and 173 people were injured by these incidents. Meanwhile,
only 20 incidents occurred by commuter rail and 17 people were injured. The
number of incidents by heavy rail was 51 and that of injuries was 35. The
number of incidents took by light rail and bus was same as 76. However,
injuries by light rail were 39 and those by bus were 66.
