The news is an important source of knowledge for all of us about the world, especially in this era of technology. Journalists are mainly responsible to bring this news to us but not all of them are true to their responsibilities and ethics. How much can we trust the journalists? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge.
The mass media has a significant role in the society to give the
news out which make people more knowledgeable and informative, however, they are
not always telling a truth in spite of their huge responsibilities on human
society. I personally believe that people should not depend on the news that easily
come across and should compare the different types of the news that provide by
various publishers.
To begin with, due to developed technology, people live in a world
with so much information that released by a thousands of newspapers and online. It
has both pros and cons, but for many people who are not used to getting online
news or old generation might have more disadvantages of this. The reason why is
that the newspapers do not only provide newest information but also commercial
use of articles and so on to pursue their profits. For example, many old people
in Korea, have scammed from online news in terms of medical tips or financial
aids because their articles are based on the companies who already paid for editors
to write about their promotions as an advertisement. A majority of people did
not realize that it is commercial news and mostly readers are fooled by the contents.
Moreover, newspapers have a different opinion on various social
trends and issues. Even in the same newspaper, the editors and reporters have different
statements especially in a political section. It is a well-known fact that news
can be twisted by the writers who could control the message by writing and
editing the news and videos. For example, there are many newspapers that represents
the political leaders in many countries and when the election is getting closer,
they tend to show their true color on the news making readers get confused to
distinguish which is true or not.
Although people could get benefits by accessing many kinds of news
and adapt to society easily, there are always challenges that people might go
through when they find news so, I believe that people should have sense of distinguish
news that is telling a truth.
