In terms of educational qualification levels of different age groups in 2010, it is obvious that younger generations were more likely to have higher qualifications than older generations. In detail, the group of people who are 24-35 years old showed the largest proposition of people with an undergraduate degree, which is 76%. The age groups of 16-24 and 35-50 showed the same trend, which is 71% university degree, 20% school certificate and 9% of no education qualifications. A half of 50-75-year-old people had achieved a university degree while 30% of them had no qualifications in the same year. Furthermore, it is interesting that only 28% of people over 75 years old had qualifications in 2010.
According to the pie charts, education levels of women and men in 2010 showed a similar trend. Moreover, the proportions were quite equally distributed in the three categories – university degree, school certificate and no qualifications. It is also noticeable that the percentage of people with school certificate was 33% in both pie charts. However, the proposition of people with no qualifications was 3% higher in women while the percentage of people with an undergraduate degree was 3% higher in men.
