Your Answer ▼ These days we are living in the world with countless advertisements. Some people believe advertising has a huge impact on consumers buying things. On the other hand, other people think that people nowadays don't bother to pay attention
to advertisements as it is too common. In this essay, I will discuss both of these perspectives and why I agree with the former view.
People think the power of advertising is so powerful because it is becoming more and more intelligent and unnoticeable. Methods of marketing have developed a lot that consumers are affected subconsciously and they couldn't even notice that they were affected by advertising. For example, Simmons, a famous bed company around the world, made a new advertisement recently and what's interesting about it is that it does not contain any bed. It only consists of videos that make people keep watching without thinking about something. This new type of advertising has been so successful that it helped the brand become more popular.
In contrast, others view that even though since there are too many advertisements around us, the influence it has on future buyers is little as people are tired of watching them. For example, we usually watch advertisements not only in Tv dramas but also in SNS. Once a person finds them disturbing and useless, they just turn to another channel or keep scrolling without seeing them closely. People shut down their eyes and ears immediately when they find any small signs of advertising.
In conclusion, there is an opposite view in terms of the effect of advertising. One is that people are largely affected by
advertisements as it is getting more and more subtle and unnoticeable. The other is that people are too tired of advertisements around them that they don't even try to give close attention to them. Both of the views make a lot of sense, but I agree more with the former perspective because advertisements these days know what we like and what we need so well that it is difficult for us to just avoid them. Even if we know they are advertisements, we cannot look away with them if they are our interests. |
