Modern society is called as “the flood of
information” due to excessive information. Some people argue that information
should be shared with other people, while other insist that some information
require to be restricted not to be shared. In this essay, both arguments will
be discussed based on the proper evidence and will provide my view in the end.
On the one hand, people say that it is necessary
to share information by different reasons. Firstly, information has a force to develop
the society. Through the past histories, creative scientific research and
invention improved the quality of lives, such as lights and electricity. If the
scientist did not share the important issue, ordinary people would still live
under the darkness. Secondly, it is much reasonable to open information to the
public for evaluation. When inventors do not know whether it is valuable or
harmful, the public can evaluate and amend it together. Sometimes, someone who
are in the different field can offer better ideas or solution. Lastly, there is
no right to block the spreading information in the democratic society. Individuals
have their rights to acquire knowledge which is helpful for their works or
interest.
On the other hand, though, those who are on
the opposite side say that particular information should be secured. As an
individual reason, information also can be a thing which is owned by an owner.
If the owners decided not to share information, it should have depended their
decisions. For instance, literature is managed under the copyrights. In the
societal views. Excessively dangerous information will bring about social
confusion. Majority of people may follow the social flow without criticism. In
the stock market, for example, when clients have information which company will
rise up, they will invest, resulting in losing money or bankrupt. Furthermore,
in regards to between countries, each country should secure their military or
finantial information to prevent confliction.
In conclusion, taking into accounts of both
sides, I believe it is essential to secure particular information, because the
negative effect on sharing information outweigh the positives. Partially,
secured information can maintain a society peaceful and reduce confliction.
