Recently, using CCTVs in public places has become a hotly-debated issue. Some people assert that it has many advantages, while others argue otherwise. I wholehearted agree with the former stand. In the following essay, the evidence supporting this contention will be discussed alongside relevant examples. First of all, it seems difficult to deny that the use of video cameras in public areas has positive effect on society. An obvious benefits is that it is the most accurate measure to find any proof of crimes. Police always check video cameras to investigate cases .Furthermore, if there are CCTVs in shops, it could help in protecting petty criminals such as shoplifters and pickpockets. As an illustration, I have seen before that posters about shoplifters with a picture of the scene they're stealing on the wall of stores. There are some reasons why people argue oppositely. The main reason is that these cameras invade individual privacy. These days, We can see video cameras anywhere, and these are recording all people's movements. It would makes people think that they live under surveillance. However, I think that people's safety is more and more important than privacy. These days, serious crimes are on the rise and there are no cameras in public places, it is obvious that our society will become more dangerous. In conclusion, it is undeniable that there are a variety of opinions about this topic. However, after considering this matter in a careful manner, I fully support the view that the use of CCTVs is necessary to our safe lives. (257 words)
