An increasing
concern for many people around the world is socialization. (바로 이전 글에서도 비슷한 문제가 있었는데, 여기를 전후로 한 두 문장의 연결이 자연스럽지가 않습니다. 이는 단순한 연결어 사용의 문제가 아닌, 애초에 앞 문장에서 socialization 으로 teach children how to be good members of society 를 전부 커버하려는 데에서 시작된 것으로 보이네요.) There are those who
say that children should learn how to be good citizens from parents. However,
others believe that children can be better at learning this in school. This essay
will discuss both views and give my opinion.
Generally speaking,
there are two reasons why people believe that parents should teach children to
be socialized. The primary reason for this is that children mostly spend time
with parents. Thus, parents have many opportunities to correct their children’s
wrong behaviors. Furthermore, parents can give them prior learning about being
a member of groups. If children go to school without any knowledge on how to form
friendship and how to talk to friends, they can be confused, and some children
can be an introvert person.
However, it must
be said that there are several arguments to the contrary. Perhaps, the strongest
argument is that the classroom can be a smaller society. Learning with only
their parents is not enough, so children should interact with many friends to
learn this. (친구로부터 배움을 통해 얻을 수 있는 이점, 혹은 그래야 하는 이유를 조금 더 설명해주세요.) A second argument is that well-trained teachers can teach them
effectively. Although parents can be a good navigator, teachers studied pedagogy,
so they have more educational knowledge.
In conclusion, being
a good citizen of society is a topic which will continue to demand our attention
for the foreseeable future. I believe quite strongly that not only children can
learn this from parents, but also school can provide environment to learn this.
If both parents and teachers focus on children, It it will give a better life for
younger generations.
