It is a controversial topic whether the
crime rate is related with economic inequity. Some people argue that the crime
incidence would reduce if people were economically equal. I strongly agree with
this idea and will state the reasons in this essay.
To begin with, people tend to commit crimes
when they feel a sense of deprivation of financially inequality and it would be
difficult to overcome the frustration. Furthermore, people would demotivate to
earn money in a right way if they encountered no further progress in their
lives even though hard-working. As a result, people would feel hatred to rich
people, which trend can be proved in recent data that shows growing the crime
rate toward them.
On top of that, it is easy to find the
examples on the news that crimes are motivated by financial difficulty. If societies were economically balanced well
through government's action, motivation to commit crimes would decrease. For
example, in Venezuela, which experience economical turmoil now, many broadcast
reported that the crime incidence related to poverty significantly increased.
Even a revolt from poor people against financial inequity
arose and they looted many shops and attack people who manage to accumulate
their large sums of property.
To sum up, it is evident that the crime rate would
eventually be lower because people commit crimes when they feel a sense of
deprivation from economic inequality. For these reasons, the authorities should
intervene strong policies to reduce inequity among people.
