Q. It is now possible for scientists and tourists to enjoy tourism to remote natural environments such as South Pole. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this issue? Does the development outweigh the damages caused by this trend?
Today, we live in a world in which a majority of people want to enjoy tourism to remote natural environments. Hence, we often find ourselves in a dilemma and question regarding this. A lot of people believe that it is not only positive but also helpful for scientists and tourists to develop tourism, while others point out that focusing only on tourism of remote natural environments would be pretty negative in many aspects. In approaching this issue, both viewpoints will be discussed with advantages and disadvantages.
For those advocating the former opinion, the first thing that has to be mentioned here is that more and more individuals are realizing that traveling remote natural area gives people extraordinary experiences. This implies that people living in modern society want to be exposed to new environments they have never been before. In the second place, it is generally recognized that development of this area is best described as that people living in these regions can have a chance to make a living by their harsh conditions. Further evidence for this argument is that more than half of residents living in these regions agree to develop their regions for tourism.
On the contrary, there are any drawbacks caused by this trend. Primarily, it is commonly presumed that rash development of this regions for tourism can deeply damage those areas irrecoverably. That is to say, residents living in this area cannot help exposing to environment pollution. Another point to be mentioned here is that tourism development is associated with higher possibilities of accidents. Logically, it follows that tourists and scientists tend to enjoy dangerous environments in these regions and then their actions follow by accidents in the end.
All things considered, I personally believe that exploration of remote natural environment is necessary for the public living in the modern society, yet, environment pollution comes from development should not be ignored in the future.
