In contemporary society, average working hours are getting longer. Although this contributes to economy development, it has had negative social consequences.
Do the negative effects outweigh the benefits?
In modern society, economy have been flourished by the extended working hours. Some people believe that this phenomenon could last for a long period. However, I strongly disagree with it regarding negative social aspects.
First of all, extending working hours may critically harm the health of labours. With heavy work loads, many labours have suffered chronic pains such as back pain, bruised arms, constant headache since working hours are longer than previous day. Ultimately, this might result in lowering the productivities over the nation's economy.
Moreover, a few owners try to violate the labour's law. To increase more workloads, they will randomly set the working hours despite observance of the labour's law. The rights of labours are surely disregarded by the greedy capitalists. Thus, longer working hours bring about the disobedience of the regulation. Finally this may lead to the social disorder.
To sum up, it is true that extending working hours gave our modern sociery economical prosperity. However, considering lower productivity and labour's rights, it is undeniable that negative factors fully offset the positive factors.
