There is a disagreement regarding the issue
of whether or not watching foreign films is beneficial for local areas. Some
people insist that foreign movies can have positive effects on their society
while others assert that they can disappear local culture. I will consider both
sides and agree with showing foreign movies to local people because it can
upgrade them.
First of all, some people think that it is
beneficial for local residents to watch foreign movies because people can have
an opportunity to understand foreign cultures. Understanding other culture is
required when we have a communication with people who have different cultural
background. For example, many individuals have a bias toward Indian eating culture
that people have their meal using only their right hand. However, if audiences
appreciate an Indian movie, they can naturally absorb their culture by watching
the movie. Thus, people can be familiar with and understand Indian dietary
habits. Likewise, importing international movies to local broaden their
knowledge to understand different culture which is needed attitude in global
society.
However, others believe that showing
foreign films negatively affect their communities since it can spoil local
movie business and culture. For instance, it is well known that a massive movie
industry like Hollywood overwhelmingly dominates the movie market in other
countries. Some citizens are concerned that their own movie business can be
collapsed because demands for domestic movies might be gradually decreased due
to the popularity of Hollywood films. In my opinion, competitive environment is
a good chance for local society to improve their movie business. As a result,
local movies will become better quality works through hard competition.
In conclusion, I support that showing
foreign movies can positively affect local communities because it gives people
a chance to understand other cultures and reduce prejudice about foreign
customs. Furthermore, importing foreign films might increase quality of local
movie through competitive environment. |
