I understand that people will not buy printed newspaper or books because they will be able to read many things they want online without paying at the extent they buy now. However, I don’t completely agree with the given statement that nobody will not buy printed newspaper or books at all because they can read everything online without paying. When it comes to printed form, it is true that these days we barely see people who read printed newspaper in public transportation. In the past, people read newspaper while they commute to work, school, etc. Nowadays, on the other hand, smart phone has replaced printed newspaper successfully. People easily can access to the mobile newspaper. Therefore, it became harder than 10 years ago to witness people read printed form of newspaper. However, I disagree with this given statement, in regard that people can read everything they want online without paying. People do spend money when they read something via phones or computers. For example, e-books, people have to buy pdf files or some special format of files to read books through their Kindles or e-book machines. Plus, if the article of newspaper is related to professional areas, people have to spend additional money to read full articles. Hence, these days there is a new way to get access to newspapers and books in publication profession area. People subscribe to the publication companies to read newspapers and books online. As the contents on books and newspaper include intellectual property rights like copyright, I don’t believe people can get their access to read books and newspapers for free not even in the future. In addition, there are still people who prefer to read as a printed format. For instance, when students study for a long time, they can feel fatigue in their eyes easily while reading books through screens. Papers are still the most stable form for eyes when exposed a lot. Also, there are still a lot of people who put their values when reading books as printed forms. This kind of people tend to love the smells of books, and textures of printed books. In conclusion, I partially agree with the statement that insists nobody will buy printed newspapers or books because they will be able to read everything they want online without paying. I agree with the expectation that people can get access to read online more than now. However, as long as the contents on the books and newspapers contains intellectual property rights, it cannot be free of charge. In addition, there are still many people who enjoy reading as printed form per se. Therefore, I believe, in the future, people will still spend money to read printed newspaper or books and decent amount of people will pay money to read things they want via the internet.
