Opinions are divided over whether the merits of taking part of individual sports supersede the sports played in teams. In my opinion, both kinds of sports can provide a wide range of advantages to the players in different ways. On the one hand, most of the games are played individually, such as tennis, swimming, and horse riding. These sports that are played alone needs extra courage since participants need to put more effort on their own because there is no one to help them. However, this allows them to focus more in enhancing personal skills. In other words, individual sports helps sportsperson to evolve their personal skills such as build confidence, self-esteem, responsibility, and being independent. As result, these factors will help each individual players build a strong mindset to overcome any setbacks they might face in the future. On the other hand, team sports, such as football, basketball, and baseball can also provide a range of advantages. First of all, team sports allow people to develop interpersonal skills. In other words, these players gain the ability to co-operate with their team and build up communication skills. As a consequence, it will not only help individuals in day to day social interaction but also in their workplace. Additionally, team sports also offer sportsperson to learn how to cope, develop friendships and unity between the teammates. All in all, it is believed by some people that sports played in teams hold greater merits compare to individual sports. Personally, I believe that all sports offer great benefits for people’s mental and physical health. |
