Your Answer ▼ Opinions are divided over whether money should be spent on developing roads and motorways rather than public transport systems. In my opinion, while both road and public transport are equally important, it is more beneficial to invest more into public transport if looking in the future. On the one hand, better roadway qualities increase the level of safety. In the modern days, many people like to take their private cars. Therefore, there is an increase in the number of cars on the road in a limited road space, which could result in accidents due to lack of free space, To solve this issue, the most feasible way to solve traffic jams is to use expenses on expanding streets and adding more lines into roads. However, building roads and widening streets will cost a tremendous amount of money which might not be affordable and when a road is under construction, people normally using roads will have to take another direction which is time-consuming. On the other hand, I strongly believe that governments should invest a large quantity of funding in upgrading the public transport system. Since a lot of people who are not financially secure enough to own a car could benefit from using a highly affordable public transport system. In addition, with a modernized transport system, it could encourage citizens to reduce their use of private cars. Thus, it will reduce the amount of noise and air pollution private vehicles make. All in all, although roads and motorways need advancement and fixing, investing money in public transport will be more beneficial in long run. |
