There is a disagreement regarding the issue that art and music classes should not be compulsory in school. While there are some people who agree that they should not be compulsory, i personally believe that they should be required subjects because art and music classes help students become creative and alleviate stress.
To begin with, taking art and music classes develop students’ creativity. This is because these types of classes let children learn how to communicate their feelings and express themselves. For example, a recent study has shown that students who have taken art and music classes once at least tend to be more creative than students who have not taken those classes. In addition, students who have tried art and music classes were even be better at expressing their feeling to others than their counterparts. As a result, schools should make students take part in art and music classes to help them to be more creative.
On top pf that, compulsory art and music classes can create opportunities for students to relieve their stress. Students can get stressed at other intensive courses such as math and science, but art and music classes can be a chance to have rest from those courses. For instance, research conducted on art therapy has found that doing creative activities can reduce the level of stress. This make participating in art and music classes very important for students nowadays who are usually under the pressure to achieve good grades. Thus, schools should make sure that students can get rest by doing creative activities in art and music classes.
In conclusion, taking art and music classes can be a way for students to be more creative and get rest from pressure. For these reasons, art and music classes should be mandatory subjects in school. |
