It is great worth of discussing whether, as
part of high school programs, free community service such as teaching sports to
younger children or the methods of high-tech devices to elder citizen should be
mandatory programs or not.
Some
people would insist that it should be volunteer work, not mandatory programs.
On the other hand, some people would assert that it should be compulsory to
high school students.
I
believe that the idea would give lessons to the students by having mandatory community
service time.
First
of all, the students can gain lots of experiences. To be more specific, by taking
part in a various community work, they will encounter much more cases outside
of school. For example, when I was a high school student, I had to do volunteer
work for local society because we were short of volunteers. However,
eventually, I ended up enjoying community work ,and it taught me a lot.
Specifically, I only had heard of poverty from a textbook, but I could feel the
effects on people of poverty in my bones from the experience.
Secondly, they can be educated how to
co-operate with other. According to research conducted by Student Behavior Association,
89 percent of students who have done mandatory community work are shown high
sense of team-work. This is mainly because that they had had to face the
situations that never been ,so they had to put a lot of efforts on the projects
together.
In conclusion,
by helping other people as a part of local society, the students will gain
experiences and the sense of co-operation with other people.
In
this regard, I assent with the given statement.
