경제가 어려울때는 돈 많은 주립대학을 가는것이 안전하겠지요.
When the US climbs out of this economic turmoil, will it find its citizens more highly educated?

Across the country, numbers of college applicants dramatically increased in 2008. On December 1, 2008, The Lantern, The Ohio State University’s newspaper, printed an article titled, Graduate programs swell as shaky job market continues. The article posed the thought that an increase in graduate applicants at OSU could be attributed to the economy. The concept – students graduate with a bachelor’s degree, find an unfriendly job market, and decide to continue their studies.
The Boston Globe reported in its December 23, 2008 article, Applications soar at public colleges, that in Massachusetts numbers are specifically high at public colleges. This trend could be attributed to prospective students turning to more affordable schools during the economic crisis.
On December 29, 2008, The Sacramento Bee reported applicant numbers notably increased this year at all campuses of the University of California as much as 15.6%.
The Marquette Tribune expected rising numbers of applicants at the beginning of the year in its January 22, 2008 article, Number of College Applicants on the rise. The article highlighted the point that colleges and universities may need to adjust admissions criteria, increasing the competition among college hopefuls. This article quoted Jodi Hester, director of college counseling at Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. “If the world is uncertain, so is the world of college admissions,” Hester said.
My two cents – if you are planning to transfer from CSCC to a four-year college or university, apply as soon as possible because some institutions offer early decision options. Also, apply to your first choice college, but make sure you have a contingency plan.
