▶ Your Answer : Individuals usually tend to regard themselves "powerless", who cannot exert such a big power toward the issue of today's society. Yet, in at least two cases, an individual brought by transitions through the world history.
To begin with, in the United States of America in 1900s,Martin Luther King Jr. led the movement in order to enhance the right of Black people in the nation. At that time, discrimination against African-Americans human rights was prevailing; they were not able to take a seat with the white people, use a same bathroom, attend same school, and so on. After Martin saw the catastrophic event, he decided to lead a peaceful but strong movement. Many of the black people engaged in the movement. Since most of them
had once suffered from such discrimination and other unpleasing experiences. He
was killed by a shoot of anti-black groups’ member unfortunately. Despite of
the fact, it is recorded as one of the events which left strong impact on
American society in 20th century. That is because normal citizens,
regardless of their races and ethnic were alarmed the importance of human
equality and made black people to get self-esteem. This anecdote of Martin
Luther King Jr. clearly indicates how one individual can strongly influence on
a society.
Another historical
example to show how one person’s responsibility to some problems in society is
Admerier Lee of Cho-son dynasty, a nation in Korean history which lasted from
1392 to 1910. During the Korea-Japan war period, Choson’s military forces were
overwhelmed by that of Japanese who were fully-equipped with state-of-the-art
weapons. The government of Cho-son fled from Seoul, the capital city, to
Shineuiju, the very Northern part of the country. No hope, no torture.
Surprisingly, however, Admerier Lee withdrew and retarded Japanese intrusion
by cutting the supply of food, weapon and soldier supplement. What is more in
the cause of a great deal of battles he had, he never lost which ultimately
discouraged Japanese military and isolated them who were dispatched in Korean
peninsula. As a result, after the 7 years of long and severe war, Japan
returned their military back home without any achievement and benefit. In this
example the Choson government could not take any action against Japan, but only
Mr. Lee could left barsh damages on them and saved his nation from demise. In
his regard, had it not been for taking responsibility for solving problems in
his community, how could Admerier Lee rescue his nation which even the
authorities were not able to do?
As shown through
the world history, not only government, but each individuals in communities has
to get responsibilities as to the issues of their region. Although they are
powerless and less-confident, their devotion might play a pivotal role as a
buttress for other people to put all their efforts in solving matters. |
