▶ Your Answer :
In Korea, it is believed that college students do not have school uniforms. Some universities, however, force their students to wear college uniforms to facilitate a sense of community and fellowship among them. As far as I am concerned, on the other hands, this compulsive policy may trigger social unrest as well as disharmony between social classes.
To begin with, school uniform is one of means that people take advantage of to distinguish students from others. In other words, if grown-up college students wear school uniforms too, it is likely to be subversive of social orders. For instance, students under 19 years old are capable of getting a variety of discounts and services in Korea. In this sense, those university students who wear school uniforms may pretend as a high school students or deceive others for those profits. Therefore, it goes without saying that school uniform policy at college level is not recommendable.
More importantly, college uniforms may let people especially those who living in penury have a sense of inferiority mainly because attending a college requires exorbitant tuition fees. Taking an example of the Philippines, school uniform is considered as one of symbols that represents one’s wealth. Hence, most college students wear their school uniforms whenever they go out to boast their financial superiority to others. Of course, it is true that they have right to do anything depends of their will. Nevertheless, school uniforms for college students need to be regulated to prevent social unrest and disharmony.
To sum up, it is obvious that college students should not wear uniforms because if may threaten social orders as well as create invisible walls between people depends on their financial position.
