Cliched as it may sound, attempt
to take advantage of IT product like the TV and the computers for studies may
lead you to negative impact on you. Therefore, I do not agree with the statement.
The following are the reasons why I think watching television is bad for
children.
To
begin with, watching too much TV weakens children’s eyesight. Especially,
children tend to get close to the TV set when it comes to exiting and funny scene.
This can cause children to have worsened eyesight. Moreover, wearing glasses all
the time really bothers children’s activities. Simply because they like going
outside, play all they long and so putting on glasses prohibit children from
being active. For example, when I was a little kid, I was an overactive boy
like every kid who want to play till when it gets dark had these small glasses were
absolutely uncomfortable. Seriously, it got on my nerves.
Secondly,
all TV programs are not appropriate for children. Of course TV does have some educational
programs I acknowledge that, but most of them are for higher aged group. To be
more specific, chances are they see adult content or violent movies. For
example, if children are turning over the channel they can see porn or
something like that.
Lastly, most kids plug into the world of television long before they
enter school. According to
the Kaiser Family Foundation, two-thirds of infants and
toddlers watch a screen an average of 2 hours a day. Kids under age 6 watch an
average of about 2 hours of screen media a day, primarily TV and videos or DVDs. To be more specific, kids and
teens between 8 to 18
years spend nearly 4 hours a day in front of a TV screen and almost 2
additional hours on the computer (outside of schoolwork) and playing video
games. |
