The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill continues to get more selective. This highly regarded public university accepted just 25.7% of all applicants for the Class of 2016. Part of the increase in applications is likely due to the school's shift to The Common Application. It will be interesting to see if the change to the Common Application also affects yield. I'm guessing we'll see a lot of waitlist activity this year.
Keep in mind that North Carolina's admit rate doesn't tell the whole story. The numbers are remarkably different for in-state and out-of-state applicants. Nearly half of in-state applicants were admitted, but for out-of-state students, the numbers look more like the Ivy League: just 14% got in.
