When I talked to the older who
had graduated, they exalted the current infrastructure in the university, such
as the rehabilitation centers for handicapped people and the cozy classes for
students. They, however, indicated that the invest for faculty was relatively
still lack despite more the affordable budget over the past. I agree with their
remarks and I think that It is more important for universities to invest the
keeping the faculty satisfied for following two subsequent reasons.
To begin with, such invest is a fundamental duty for students. The
underlying reason that they enroll the university is to study the field in
which they are interested deeply. Therefore, the authority of university should
strive to support them by investing the faculty as possible. Unfortunately, if
the authority has an indifference of the invest of faculty, they would have many
complain about the lecture. For example,
I remember a faculty who taught students the 'linear algebra' in mathematics
looked always tired during the lecture. Due to her manner, I was frustrated to
her lecture. On the other hand, I empathized her because most university in
Korea are shrinking the number of the faculties for the purpose of saving
budget. Indeed, according to the acquaintance, she was responsible for at least
eight classes on a single day at the time.
Second, such invest is necessary to compete other universities. Actually,
in case of infrastructure, there is no prominent the difference between
universities. Nowadays, the quality of faculties is a significant scale which can
determine the ace university. So called 'top-tier' universities possess abundant
faculties who cover a copious of field. For example, when I was in university
as a undergraduate student, I envied another one from time to time; such
university opened the course of 'homology algebra' for undergraduate students.
Yet, my university could not open it because there are none of faculties who
majored in 'homology algebra' at the time. More interesting is that there were
two professors who taught 'homology algebra' before I entered there. However, I
found that all of them shifted to another a-list university whose welfare was
better than those of my university.
To sum up, I think that it is
more crucial for universities to the keeping the faculty satisfied because such
invest is not only a duty for students who paid pricey tuition, but also
necessary to be a superior university.
