In this task the lecturer does not agree with the writer’s
opinion about preventing
the cane toad’s population from increasing. He thinks that stopping the spread
of cane toad will be unsuccessful and cause undesirable environmental damage. Here are three reasons how the writer casts
doubts on the reading passage’s each points.
First, the writer argues that the
national fence will be helpful to this issue. But, the lecturer does not think that the fence will work no matter where it
is located because most young cane toads and eggs are found around the river
and stream. This means they can be moved through the river or stream from this side to
another area.
Second, the writer maintains that the
volunteers can capture and destroy the cane toad to stop the spread of them. Actually the lecturer thinks that volunteers’
work could be successful but untrained volunteers would destroy many native
frogs in this process.
Third, the writer refers to the virus
as another method to prevent the cane toad spreading. Unlike the writer’s opinion, the lecturer warns that the virus
cause terrible result to an ecosystem if the cane toads are infected and
eliminated. He mentions that his will have a bad influence on whole ecosystem.
