▶ Your Answer : We watch lots of movies in our daily lives. Also, there are lots of movies in the theater. Since movies are a very familiar concept, people indirectly experience the background of the movie by watching the movie. And this brings the question- do movies tell a lot about a country? I oppose to the topic by two reasons.
First of all, not every movie tell about the country for a lot. There may be some specific movies that feature a country which can tell a lot about the country in the movie. However, lots of movies do not tell a lot about a country. For example, let's talk about the movie <Blended>. Two families who appear in the movie go to South Africa and stays there for two weeks. However, in the movie, we cannot find characteristics of the country South Africa. The movie focuses on the storyline of the characters. In general, what movies focus is the storyline, not the country that appears in the movie. Therefore, we cannot get a lot of information about the country.
Another reason is that some features of the country aren't real, to emphasize the storyline. In movies, as I mentioned in the first reason, the most important factor is catching storylines, not giving information about the country which appears in the movie. Therefore, the characteristics brought in the movie can be overly emphasized. Let's take an example of the movie <Mrs. Doubtfire>. At the start of the movie, there was a birthday party which made the other residents not satisfied. Then, the audiences who live in other countries may think that in America, most kids have big, loud birthday parties. But it's not, parties vary from children! As we can see from this example, it can be overemphasized to blend it into the storyline.
I gave two reasons opposing to the topic in the essay. First, most movies cannot tell lots of details about the country. Second, some features can be overly used for the smooth storyline. Therefore, movies cannot tell a lot about the country. |
