▶ Your Answer :
In the reading passage, there is ample support
for the author’s claim that Everglades are being destroyed because of several
natural reasons. However, the professor in the passage gives some reasons as a
rebuttal to author’s point.
First, the reading insists that water
pollution that is caused by chemicals is one reason. However, the professor in
the lecture casts doubt on this point by asserting that it is not plausible.
The new government limits the harmful chemicals from facilities, so hazardous
materials no longer contains.
Next, the author contends that soil is lost
because the government drained and it made soil vulnerable to wind abrasion. On
the contrary, the professor counters that citizens are restoring them. The rate
of restoration is much faster and thus, soil will return to original condition later.
Finally, the reading passage argues that
human development affects wildlife and it triggers decreasing some habitats of
animals and disappearing. The professor refutes this perspective that it is not
likely for animals to be extinct. A lot of lands are used for agriculture, so
species can get considerably more chance to survive.
