Some people might think that college students are required to take practical classes like engineering in order to get more job opportunities. However, in my opinion, it is better for them to study subjects which they want to learn for two reasons; concerning that there are many variables which have influence on getting a job, and taking courses which a person is interested in can lead the person to become an expert in the field.
To begin with, majoring in applied sciences like technology does not guarantee to get more job opportunities or better jobs. This is because many factors would affect the process of a person to be hired (process가 어떤 것을 가리키는 지 불분명). To be specific, companies often put emphasis on not only one's major but also his or her overall grades. Therefore, if a person (you, we 등의 단어보단 객관적인 one/people로 작성해주세요) majored in technology at a college but did not study hard, it would be probably difficult for him or her to get a job. In this regard, I will talk about my brother's case. My brother studied applied statistics, which is a popular field of study among college students nowadays since many companies prefer the person who studied it to work for them (회사는 과목/전공을 선호하지 않습니다; 해당 내용을 '공부한 사람'을 직원으로서 선호합니다). However, he could not study well because it was difficult for him to understand mathematic principles. Therefore, his overall grades were so low, and as a result, he did not get a job for two years after graduating from college.
On top of that, if a student studied a specific major enthusiastically, it might lead the person to become successful in the field even though the student did not take practical classes like engineering. This is because A great passion for a specific major can make one person study it voluntarily and explore the subject deeply. Finally, the person would be a professional in the field. In addition, it is needless to say that an expert has more stability in terms of employment and could earn more money than normal workers employed by companies. I know this from my personal experience. For instance, when I was a college student, I was interested in studying counseling psychology which was not beneficial to get a job in reality, and I took only psychology classes during my university years. My huge interest towards the major led me to graduate school, and I studied it more professionally. As a result, I became an counseling expert; now, I am working a professional counselor in a hospital with a high income.
To sum up with, taking practical courses like technology does not guarantee to get a job, and having an interest in one specific major and studying it a lot would give more chances to get a better job. In this regard, I firmly believe that it is better for students to take courses what they want.
