▶ Your Answer : Some people might think that people should go to a museum in order to know about a country. However, in my opinion, visiting museum cannot enough information to learn about one country for the following reasons concerning the fact that the museum cannot show all aspects of the country, and people are not able to know about a country’s intangible attributes fully. To begin with, since the museum usually show one country’s past and positive aspects. This is because their purpose is to preserve valuable ruins of a country, and to show the superiority of the country. For example, last year, I traveled to Japan, and I visited a national museum in Tokyo. Before going to the museum, I anticipated to see Japan’s modern attributes, and records about their colony policies. However, I could not do that. This is because the museum usually had ruins of the Samurai era, not modern things after the World War II. Moreover, history about their colonial control was not proud for themselves, so the museum did not present records about the history. On top of that, people cannot know about invisible traits of one country at the museum since there are huge differences between the ruins at there and the public of the country. To be specific, the museum just have some products like dishes, swords, or clothes which the country had used, and these things cannot tell us about the country’s intangible values, such as the public’s patriotism, cultural values, or the national character. For instance, when my friend visited my country at first, he went to the Kyungbok National Museum. After seeing some rudiments at there, my foreign friend thought that my country and the public might be so hostile and liked war because there were lots of arms like sword. However, after he started to go into a university and made new friends in my country, he realized that there were big differences between some traits surmised from the museum and the public in real. He said to me that contrast to his speculation, people in my country were kind and liked music. To sum up, at the museum, people cannot learn about a country’s present traits and some negative aspects. In addition, there are huge discrepancies between ruins in the museum and intangible values of the country in real. In this regard, I firmly believe that visiting museum is not the best way to get the idea of one country. |
