▶ Your Answer :
What is the most effective way of learning? In terms of
effectiveness, people usually mentions ‘feedback’ which strengthen their raw
information in to organized knowledge. The best feedbacks happen when people
are having heated discussion with other individuals. Also, effective learning
need extra motivation, such as competition. For this regard, I believe that
group study is better method than studying alone.
First
of all, communication occurs in the group facilitates the gathering of shattered
information and converts it into solid, organized knowledge. When a person is
deeply into a conversation about the topic, he or she is more likely to absorb
much further information because it is more active and intense. For instance, I
once had group study while I was preparing my mid-term exam last year. It turns
out to be truly helpful, since my study mates gave me direct feedback about
what I just said and made a correction without hesitation. Also, it is much
more interesting to have mutual communication rather than stuck in a sole room
to digging a book. Therefore, I finally reach to the conclusion that
communication take place in a group study develop one’s raw opinion into polished
academic knowledge.
Second,
innate competitive environment which group study method has is helpful in
motivating each other. People usually be more productive and push themselves
into the limit while competing with others. According to the research conducted
by the Organization of Academics, the result shows that people who put in
competitive environment tend to achieve more than the people who do not exposed
to such condition. The study also specifies the reason of result, pointing out
the fact that people instinctively avoid being retarded in affiliated group. This
motivate people in the group work harder. Regarding to this phenomenon, it is
useful take advantage of competitive environment.
For
these following reasons, I believe that studying as a group is much more
helpful due to the characteristics: communication and competitiveness.
