Various opinions may exist over the
argument whether movies and television affect young people’s behavior
negatively. As far as I am concerned, I am in complete disagreement with the
argument. The two ideas stated below can be valid evidence to support my view.
First of all, watching movies and
televisions can usher children into the right direction by teaching them
precious life lessons and the true value of life. Some people are immature to
have thorough understandings of life and are likely to become incapable of
coping with problems at pivotal moments of their lives. At such times, movies
and television offers chances for maturation and enlightens them about
important values so that they can become a better person and behave positively.
According to a private survey conducted by Seoul National University, an
anonymous surveyed respondent answered that he was strongly influenced by watching
movies and television. He also responded that if it had not been for the time
he spent watching movies and television,
he might not have known how to behave good and what to pursue in life. Thus, movies
and television affect young people’s behavior positively.
On top of that, children can find
emotional relief by watching movies and television because it if effective for
boosting children’s moods. Today, many young people are weary with too much
stress. By watching movies and television, however, they can temporarily forget
about their problems and behave better. In this respect, television and movies
can be a great means of changing children’s behavior positively. My personal
experience can be used to prove this point. Every morning, I have to get
through traffic congestion to go to school and read through countless books. To
make matters worse, I get exhausted coping with my teachers and classmates.
Hence, as a way to relieve my stress, I frequently watch movies and television.
Even if it is only for a short period of time, my feelings become relaxed and I
am no longer thinking about the demanding requests at school. Indeed, during
this brief period of enjoyment, I am able to alleviate tension and better
prepare myself for the upcoming days. Therefore, it is not true that movies and
television affect young people’s behavior negatively.
Taking all of theses reasons into
consideration, we should agree with the idea that movies and television affect
young people’s behavior positively since it is important for children to teach
them precious life lessons and relieve stress.
