▶ Your Answer : The lecturer argues that hypotheses suggested in the reading passage are not convincing. This contradicts the reading passage’s argument that transient lunar phenomena, which is so called TLPs, can be fully explained by three plausible hypotheses. First of all, the lecturer claims that clouds of lunar gas are not responsible for TLPs. Moon is mainly consisted mainly consists of many craters, so it is no wonder that gas is frequently observed in craters. Also, we do not know how much gases emitted from there. So there is no indication that lunar gas causes the phenomena. This casts doubt on the reading passage’s assertion that clouds of lunar gas results in TLPs. Next, the lecturer maintains that there is no evidence that dust storms occurred above the lunar. This has to be very huge in order to be seen from Earth but nothing is observed. Also, one astronaut reported after exploration on the lunar that there was no dust particle on the surface of it. This challenges the reading’s point that TLPs can by be well explained by clouds of dust levitating above the lunar ground. Lastly, the lecturer says that according to analyzing related data, there is no correlation between solar flare and TLPs. Data from both often didn’t not match up with each other, which means the solar flare hypothesis have insufficient evidence. |
